Lifting and Handling

The location of the filler together with the size of the ring gear presented a number of challenges. Restricted space meant conventional lifting equipment could not be used to raise and support the filler carousel. Alternative means were identified and implemented. Ring gear diameter of 3m and weighing around 1 tonne necessitated considerable forethought and planning to permit access past narrow obstructions and height restrictions at different points on the route to the filler.

The TEP team together with customer / OEM engineers ensured the project went to plan with the Filler recommencing production on schedule. TEP have completed a vast number of ring gear replacement exercises over many years. We work for OEM’s and end users utilising a variety of techniques to overcome challenges presented by different sites. We have a range of specialist equipment developed over the years specifically for this purpose.
